helena torres is the spirit of a young girl who suffered an untimely death at the hands of a lover. she is a pagan of the greek pantheon and an escapee of hades's underworld. in exchange for her freedom, she suffers selective amnesia- her only memories retained being the gruesome events leading up to her demise. born a free spirit, she was a black sheep among her conservative family. there was a rift between her and her parents, who were emotionally unavailable. she sought solace through ritual, worshipping apollo through offerings and artistic skill, and aphrodite through prayer for love. she met her first boyfriend in high school, and their relationship started off like any teenage dream. her boyfriend treated her kindly. however, he gradually became more malicious. negging and backhanded comments lowered her confidence over the years, and eventually it escalated to physical abuse. although she stayed and suffered through this for four years, one incident would finally give her the strength to run away. he drugged her at a house party, leaving her completely unaware of what he may have done to her that night. afraid that she might die because of him, she fled out of her home town and sought to start anew. but her ex tracked her down and kidnapped her with the help of some masked men. her final resting place is unknown, her skull bludgeoned in and unrecognizable. helena cannot remember what life was like in the underworld, nor how she got out. but she knew that she desired another chance at the life she never had the opportunity to build for herself. her will to live cultivated a whole new personality... self-assured, strong-willed, independent, resilient, and fiery. but she maintained the love and empathy she had all her life, hoping to be a light within the cruel world she had come to know. after helena's spirit manifested in the living world, she started from scratch, with new goals for the future. her past continues to follow her, however, in the form of frequent night terrors.

helena is visible and tangible to humans via corporealization- she can appear and disappear from the sight of most humans if she desired. of course, this also gives her the abilities to phase through physical objects, make herself known through cold presence, levitate, cause hauntings, and have a quick regenerative healing factor. other abilities require using necroplasmic energy, such as disruption of electronic devices, telekinesis, teleportation, telepathy, and even possession. she is still energy dependent, meaning she still requires sleep in order to continue functioning properly. however, she cannot contract disease of any kind. she can "die," so to speak, but that can only happen if she takes enough damage, and will only result in her soul going back to the underworld. since she has the ability to interact with mortal and supernatural beings alike, she also has the ability to reproduce with humans, other ghosts, gods, angels, demons, faes, and monsters.

escape should have been impossible. and yet, a lowly shade had managed to make it out of the pits of tartarus without the knowledge of the god of the underworld. helena herself doesn’t even have a single memory of how she got out. once she made it out of the gate past the river styx, the deal she had struck with a certain boatman was in effect, essentially wiping out any and all memory of hers that could incriminate him. helena desired this, begged for it. she prayed to goddess persephone for guidance, a way out as someone who willed herself to stay out and away for so long. she knew it was wishful thinking considering the rules. nobody got out. not even the prince was allowed to cross those gold plated gates. but for the right price…
records of her were redacted, leaving her a mystery even to the lord that meticulously oversaw said records— made absolute certain that nobody was able to even get past the terrifying furies, let alone the hydra or cerberus. not even hypnos could trace back her entry into the house. only a couple of the deities knew what was going on, and kept their lips sealed. meanwhile, helena continued to build her life up on the surface. but freedom didn’t come so easily. the river styx would always remember who swam through its bloody deaths, who it carried to charon in the first place. and so, it calls her back. the voice grows louder and louder each time, tempting her… and every time she feels that magnetic pull, she risks death taking her again.

helena wasn’t supposed to be in hell. not this one. not as far as she knew. what she had come to believe all her life seemed to be shattering right before her eyes— was the protection of the gods she so adamantly believed in all just illusion? were they just pulling yet another sick ploy on her? talk of satan and the morningstar were familiar to her, but not a dogma she subscribed to. and she knew well that this wretched place couldn’t be tartarus, where she believed she would end up.“thou shall not believe in false gods.” the words echoed through her head as doubts began to creep in. and the more doubts crept in, the more she could feel the blessings that the gods have given her slip away. why was she here, and how does she get to where she truly belongs? she didn’t want a heaven or a hell. she wanted assurance that what she placed her faith in all along was just as true as yahweh and lucifer. but, in the meantime, if she spent all her time feeling sorry for herself, she would never survive in a place like this.
it was hard to find a good and honest job… helena’s beauty constantly got her attention from the wrong people. she couldn’t count on both hands anymore how many times she had been offered to do sex work by demons eager to exploit her. she was created as a siren, a creature known for luring men to their deaths with their hypnotizing singing voices. the concept alone was enough for others to project their sick and twisted fantasies onto her. she stuck with odd jobs, mostly deliveries and musical gigs to get her by. she slept in her car until she could actually find somewhere where she felt at least a little more safe, somewhere where somebody wasn’t trying to put her through a humiliation ritual or a porno. eventually helena would hear a radio ad that peaked her interest. the hazbin hotel… a place that offered a free place to stay on the condition that the guest seeks a path to redemption. this was helena’s only chance to get out, and hopefully find a way back to the path she had been walking in the first place.helena has an enchanting singing voice that has the power to put others in a catatonic state. this is not to be confused with vox and valentino’s mind control powers. she can also mimic other people’s voices, or even produce banshee like shrieks to deafen her enemies. a lot of her god-gifted abilities still apply, but her powers are actually a lot stronger when she gets to hell— especially those given to her by apollo. she prefers not to fight despite having these abilities. she still is a visual artist, and her contributions to the hotel in exchange for her patronage would include painting murals in the hotel and helping with cooking, cleaning, and interior decoration. she is a friendly individual that would get along with most of the main cast.

helena is a connoisseur of both the macabre and all things adorable. hailing from the region of hoenn, this ghostly girl is an expert of ghost and fairy type pokemon. her team is made to balance out each other's weaknesses, with ghosts meant to repel all physical attacks while fairy types defend against some of the toughest of pokemon types. helena is a trainer that focuses heavily on defense. she is an opportunist that leaves hardly any openings so that she has time to figure out how to exploit her opponent's weaknesses. her team consists of the following pokemon:
